Healing and Spiritual Transformation
Credit value: 4 credits
Description: A newly-emerging model of medicine regards the body as being interwoven by a network of energy fields which may be influenced by consciousness. Within this model, finding and correcting energy imbalance is a key to disease causation, prevention and healing. Various complementary disciplines share the overriding concept of mapping and working with energies using differing techniques. This unit provides an introduction to holistic medicine and one of the main maps of human energy systems, the chakras. Different levels of reality and consciousness are considered. The student is shown the importance of energy systems in the following complementary medical fields: homeopathy, Chinese medicine, flower essence, colour and light healing, magnetobiology, radionics/distant healing and hands-on healing. Reports are given on scientific investigations into these techniques.

"Vibrational Medicine:New Choices for Healing Ourselves" (Bear & Co, 1988) - out of date and out of print. It has been reprinted in an expanded edition (608 pages) called "Vibrational Medicine: the #1 Handbook of Subtle-energy therapies" (Bear & Co, 2001.)
