Medicine

Description: “Earth medicine” is a path to self-discovery and inner guidance based upon the shamanic teachings of the Native North Americans with parallels to be found in the traditional shamanic teachings of Caucasian peoples and certain Eastern teachings. This unit studies the system of Earth Medicine knowledge as presented by Kenneth meadows in his book “Earth Medicine”. Concepts explored include the Circle and the Four Directions, the Elemental Powers, the animal, mineral and plant totems correlated with astrological signs, the shamanic study of personality, I Ching and Rune symbolism, the Eight Fundamental Principles and the Sacred Laws.
Key textbook: Meadows, Kenneth. Earth Medicine: A Shamanic Way to Self Discovery. Shaftesbury, Dorset: Element, 1989 and Rockport, Massachusetts, Element Inc., 1991. NB – Other edition have been published by Castle Books and by HarperCollins. Essentially they are all the same book and any edition will do. UPDATE: As of June 2006, the book appears to be hard to obtain new but there are many secondhand copies available via www.amazon.co.uk, www.abebooks.co.uk, www.amazon.com and www.abebooks.com You should be able to obtain a copy at a low price within a few days.
