Reincarnation Beliefs

Description:
This unit presents some of the reincarnation beliefs of North American Indians
and Inuit within an anthropological context. There is a variety of beliefs,
customs and traditions concerning rebirth amongst native Americans of different
tribes, and papers by a number of scholars. The studies highlight important
differences between American Indian reincarnation beliefs, as demonstrated in
tribal life, and other concepts of reincarnation, such as Western studies and
Hindu/Buddhist approaches.
