Unit title: Overcoming
the Trauma of Childhood Abuse
Credit value: 3 credits
Description: This unit presents a study of the survivors of childhood physical and emotional abuse, and evidence which shows that, far from being stuck in a “circle of abuse” and tending to become perpetrators as is often suggested, survivors are able to become whole, stable personalities who can lead normal lives as fully recovered adults. The implications of these findings for psychology and spirituality are discussed.
