PSYCHOLOGY
Credit value: 12 credits [Occasional students - this block is counted as two units for fee purposes. Occasional students will be allocated 9 credits but do not have to do the two essays.]
These 8 units must be taken together. They cannot be taken singly.
Description: A comprehensive introductory or refresher course in psychology, suitable for helping professionals, psychology undergraduates, and postgraduates who need a grounding in psychology before proceeding to more advanced studies. Covers The Nature of Psychology; Biological Foundations; Development. The Senses, Perception and Consciousness. Learning, Memory, Language and Thought. Motivation, Emotion and Personality. Stress, Health and Psychological Disorders. Social Psychology. Optional introduction to statistical methods. The course uses a standard university textbook and has optional multimedia (CD-ROM) and web resources.
