Unit number: PMG
116
Unit title: How
To Discover Your Life’s Path
Credit value: 3 credits
Description: Today people are likely to have several careers over a lifetime, to work for longer and to be willing to change direction as they know that traditional job security is illusory. The search for “life purpose” or “life mission” becomes more urgent as people realize that, if they have to change jobs, they might as well do something they can enjoy or believe in. But how can we find our ideal role in life? This course presents a wide range of exercises and techniques to help pinpoint your unique purpose or mission. Through following this programme, you can discover your strengths and assets, find out what sort of work is emotionally and spiritually in tune with who you are, release the emotional patterns that prevent change, and use the principle of synchronicity to move towards your goal. You can also use the material to help you plan a specific personal project.
Key textbook: Adrienne, Carol. Find Your Purpose, Change Your Life. New York: Quill (an imprint of HarperCollins), 2001.
Note: The key text was previously published under a different title. It was first called The Purpose of Your Life Experiential Guide and published in 1999/2000 by Eagle Brook in the US and Piatkus in the UK. If you have that edition, the pagination (page numbering) is exactly the same as the 2001 Quill edition and you can use it for this unit. However, Ms. Adrienne has also published a book called The Purpose Of Your Life (Eagle Brook/ Piatkus 1998), which is a different book.
