Unit title:
Documented Accounts of the Paranormal
Credit value: 3 credits
Description: This unit is concerned with the physical evidence for parapsychology, and concentrates on phenomena such as physical mediumship and psychokinesis. Here are brought together important witnessed accounts of parapsychological phenomena from Italy, Iceland, Poland, Russia and China which add up to a most remarkable collection of evidence. The accounts include poltergeist activity, levitations, phantoms, materializations, apports, psychokinesis, light phenomena and other manifestations of alleged spirit activity, plus details of experiments with psychic children in China. Notable psychic personalities featured in this unit include Mirabelli, Palladino, Indridi Indridason, Matylda, and Modrzejewski, though not all of these may be familiar to the student.
Key textbook: Imich, Alexander (ed.) Incredible Tales of the Paranormal: Documented Accounts of Poltergeist, Levitations, Phantoms, and Other Phenomena. New York: Bramble Books, 1995. (Preface by Colin Wilson).
