Unit number: NLP
150
Unit title: Motivational NLP
Credit value: 3 credits
Description: This unit presents in highly accessible form a collection of key NLP skills for increasing motivation, life mission, goal achievement, rapport and relationship building, ethical persuasion strategies, dealing with fears and phobias, building self-confidence, self-esteem, handling criticism, positive mental attitude, and peak performance. The unit presents a total of 43 techniques, building a comprehensive repertoire. Each technique is clearly explained in ordinary language, with an explanation of how and why it works. Advanced NLP techniques such as Swish, Personal Timeline and Decision Destroyer are included. You also benefit from a special “21-day” achievement programme (you can take this at your own pace afterwards). Although aimed at personal growth, executive development, motivation and coaching, these techniques can be used by qualified therapists in a therapeutic or counselling context.
The material learned in this unit may be used for self-awareness, as an introductory study of NLP, or as professional development for motivational, business, career, coaching and therapeutic applications of NLP. Also valuable as pre-instruction before taking a classroom NLP Practitioner course (classroom practitioner courses are not provided by CIU). No prior NLP knowledge necessary. Those who have taken a practical NLP training some time ago, and wish to revise their skills, may also benefit greatly from this unit. If you have taken another CIU distance learning NLP unit, you may still wish to take this one to gain another perspective on the techniques and learn some additional techniques.
Key textbook: Andreas, Steve and Faulkner, Charles (Eds.) NLP: The New Technology of Achievement. New York: William Morrow & Company Inc., 1994 (Hardback). [Paperback editions are also available from William Morrow and Nicholas Brealey]
