in Therapeutic Communication
Credit value: 3 credits
Description: NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) has become a popular technology for psychological change, interpersonal communication skills and psychotherapy. This unit assumes no prior NLP knowledge and covers the following basic NLP skills and blocks of knowledge: modeling, representational systems, predicates, contextual cues, 5-tuple, sensory experiences, accessing cues, lead systems, pacing and leading, meta-model, filtering, anchoring, parts, congruity, resistance, orientation in time, reframing and metaphor. Sample therapy session transcripts are provided. The material learned in this unit may be used for self-awareness, as an introductory study of NLP, or as professional development to enhance the communication and helping skills of practising professionals.
