of Rock Music

Description: This unit provides a musical and social history of rock music from its beginnings in the 1950s to the 21st-century, covering all its many genres and styles. There is no agreed definition of “rock”, and this history includes 50s rock-‘n’-roll, 60s psychedelia, 70s heavy metal, 80s new wave, rap and industrial, 90s garage, grunge and hip-hop, and every style in between (including revivals), plus extra material on the rock music of the new millennium.
