Unit number:     MET 115

Unit title:           Animal Teachers and Healers

Credit value:      3 credits

Description:       This unit shows us the spiritual power and wisdom of animals, and their healing and transformative value for human beings. They are comforters and teachers of life lessons.  These long-neglected powers of all kinds of animals are illustrated with many true stories. Animals can also aid us as our totems or power animals and can appear as helpers in dreams and visions. These stories illustrate that animals have a much higher state of consciousness than most people recognise. The understanding of and respect for animals has been largely lost in our society and what you learn in this unit will help to redress the balance.

Key textbook:   McElroy, Susan Chernak,  Animal Teachers and Healers: True Stories of the Transforming Power of Animals, Rider, London, 1996.
