Unit number: MAN
410
Unit title: Spiritual
Capital
Credit value: 3 credits
Description: Spiritual Capital, a concept introduced in the book of the same name (see below), concerns the rejection of conventional share-value dominated business culture in favour of a culture appreciating the purpose behind the creation of wealth. A key concept is “stakeholder value” in which the set of stakeholders extends to the human race and the earth itself. Three kinds of capital are explained: material, social and spiritual. Three types of intelligence need to be utilised to make the shift to a spiritual capital viewpoint. These are the well-known IQ and Emotional Intelligence (EQ) together with Spiritual Intelligence (SQ), whose qualities are detailed in the key text.
Key textbook: Zohar, Danah and Marshall, Ian. Spiritual Capital. London: Bloomsbury, 2004.
