Description: This unit is a complete and comprehensive theoretical course in clinical hypnotherapy (techniques are taught but there is no clinical practice). The course may be used as a preparation for attending a local hands-on training; as a revision and updating of knowledge for experienced hypnotherapists; to acquire knowledge of psychology of hypnosis; for professional development at all levels; as partial preparation for studying for a research Ph.D. in hypnotherapy; and as a resource for hypnotherapy trainers and educators. Attention is given to important information every professional hypnotherapist should study such as: misconceptions of hypnosis, models of hypnosis, the role of the brain, applications of hypnotherapy; social psychology and suggestibility; consciousness and the unconscious, hypnotizability; phenomenology of hypnosis; testing hypnotic responsiveness; structuring suggestions; induction strategies, hypnotic phenomena; designing interventions; hypnosis in psychotherapy; hypnotic hazards; resistance; ethical guidelines. A serious case study with verbatim transcript, commentary and analysis is included. This unit could provide the information that was missing from your practical training – the textbook will be an essential reference and hypnotherapists at all levels who are not already fully acquainted with the key text will benefit from taking this course.
