Unit number:     HYP 222

Unit title:           Brief Hypnosis for Smoking Cessation

Credit value:      3 credits

Description:       This unit providers detailed instructions for carrying out clinical hypnotherapy for smoking cessation. These techniques can be used as given or modified as necessary. A reference guide to currently available hypnotherapy scripts for smoking is also given.

Prerequisite:      A basic grounding in hypnotherapeutic inductions and techniques.

Key textbook:   Allen, Roger P.  Scripts and Strategies in Hypnotherapy Volume II.  Bancyfelin, Carmarthen, Wales: Crown House Publishing 2001.  [Please be careful to note this is Volume II, not Volume I.]  NOTE  – a combined edition of Roger Allen’s scripts (Vol. I and II together) has since been published, and therefore if you do not already have a  copy of Volume II we recommend obtaining the combined edition.  We have selected the material by Allen as, in the opinion of the course tutor, it is one of the clearest and most useful plans for the practising hypnotherapist. It presents, in a nutshell, an approach that includes educating the client, a smoking questionnaire, a draft script of the hypnotherapeutic session, and post-session education.

Comments:

This unit is not in itself a training or qualification in hypnotherapy.

Amendments may be made to the details and provision of units at any time.
