Unit title: Hypnotic
Techniques for Positive Change
Credit value: 3 credits
Description: This is a wide-ranging course in hypnotic techniques that can be used for self-help and self-hypnosis or to increase and refresh professional hypnotherapy skills. The course focuses on what works and what can be used immediately by practitioners at any level. Experienced hypnotherapists may benefit from the case histories, skills and special techniques presented. The textbook used is one that is used by many practical hypnotherapy schools. Applications featured include weight, smoking, stress, phobias, childbirth, health, pain, self-esteem, learning, sport, creativity, sleep, anxiety/panic, abuse survivors, loss, surgery, depression. Learning the techniques presented here will offer a sound basis for clinical hypnotherapy and the experienced therapist will discover different versions of classic scripts and techniques: the more versions you learn, the more flexible and fluid your style becomes as your choice of suggestions and imagery widens. The text author effectively integrates authoritarian and permissive modes of working. The easily accessible style of presentation of the key text also offers a model of clear style for presenting information about hypnosis to clients, students and audiences.
