Unit number: HYP

Unit title: Applications
of Self-Hypnosis
Credit value: 3 credits
Description: Self-hypnosis is also known by other names, such as creative visualization, guided imagery and relaxation therapy. It involves the use of positive self-suggestion and imagination to solve problems and achieve goals, and can be useful in any area of life. This course is useful to anyone interested in personal development and health, yet the student of hypnotherapy will also learn new techniques, inductions and applications. Inspired by the work of Dr Milton Erickson and others, this unit gives comprehensive instructions for self-suggestion and on how to use and build suggestions for a variety of applications including stress, fears, smoking, allergies, asthma, pain, skin problems, confidence, weight, sleep problems, parenting and childbirth, sports, success, and general self-exploration. All of the methods can be adapted for clinical use with clients or for teaching self-hypnosis to others. Hypnotherapy students can also use the information to improve their skills and help build rapport with clients.
