Unit number: HYP
206
Unit title: Practical
Clinical Hypnotherapy
Credit value: 3 credits
Description: This unit provides an accessible overview of how to carry out therapeutic hypnosis for adults and children for a variety of common conditions. Clear instructions, scripts and tips for good practice are provided. Instructions for the use of hypnosis in analytic psychotherapy are also given. The textbook is UK-based and so the scripts are immediately useful to British therapists without needing to check them for Americanisms. The unit may be used as an introductory course or as a refresher – experienced hypnotherapists will pick up technique variations and extend their repertoire. The emphasis is on trance being a state easy to access, and hypnotherapy being an arts that is easily learned.
Prerequisites: Some practical knowledge of hypnotherapy and trance induction is desirable.
Key textbook: Karle, Hellmut W.A. and Boys, Jennifer H. Hypnotherapy: A Practical Handbook. London, Free Association Books, 1987.
Comments:
This unit is not in itself a training or qualification in hypnotherapy.
Amendments may be made to the details and provision of units at any time.
