Unit title: Independent Studies in Counselling
Credit value: 3 credits
Prerequisites: Prior study of counselling and some experience of counselling practice.
Description: This course offers the student an opportunity to plan and carry out a brief but well-rounded study of the literature in a particular area relative to counseling, especially the study of an area (a problem or client group) that is under-documented in popular counseling textbooks. The unit will be assessed by an essay of 3,500 words.
Key textbook: There is no specific key text for this unit. Students are expected to be acquainted with at least 4 textbook and/or journal sources for their essay (occasional study), 6 sources (at BA level), or at least 10 sources (MA level).
