Unit title: The
Maturing Relationship
Credit value: 3 credits
Description: This unit is a study of how to couples can create a more loving and supportive relationship, looking at the work of a well-known marital therapist which is drawn from an eclectic blend of psychological and psychotherapeutic knowledge and wisdom. The idea behind the programme for transforming relationships is that marriage typically embodies expectations and dynamics carried over from childhood that can create conflict in the relationship. However, through learning the principles taught in this unit, it is possible to transform those childhood-based patterns of thinking and feeling to create a more conscious, healthy relationship. The final part of the set text presents what can be a step-by-step self-help course in couples therapy, or which can act as an inspiration to the practising relationship therapist.
