ENTRY REQUIREMENTSEntry requirements for degrees see degree_routes.htm for details of standard requirements. Students coming to non-traditional colleges such as Calamus tend to be those who find conventional state-approved learning institutions unsuitable for the following reasons:
However, potential students are expected to be able to cope with learning independently using college- and university-level textbooks, to be able to think for themselves and absorb new concepts, and to be able to express themselves in writing clearly, logically and with good English. If there is any doubt about an applicant's ability to cope with the demands of the particular subject, he or she might be asked to produce suitable evidence of academic ability or to take a home-based entrance test. School-leavers and young persons who are reading this are urged to take independent advice from careers teachers, careers counsellors, etc. as to their best options and the types of training and education available. Because young persons are at the threshold of their future careers, a state-recognised vocational qualification or a conventional campus-based degree course will probably give them the best chance of securing employment and career advancement. Please note also that there are no government grants or loans available for our courses.
