Courses - INDEPENDENT STUDYStudents on most taught programmes may do a certain part of their programme by independent study. Independent study can take a variety of forms such as: evaluation of ongoing work (especially performances and artistic work), challenge essays (writing essays to demonstrate previous knowledge or private reading/study), and projects. The PhD in many fields can be completed by independent study if the student already has done considerable research and is in a position to produce a dissertation or equivalent work within a reasonable time. The student must have adequate and relevant qualifications and experience and a previous acceptable university degree is necessary. Students with ABD ("all but dissertation") status who wish to transfer from other universities will be considered on their merits. For further advice, please send your curriculum vitae or resume plus an outline of what you hope to achieve via independent study to info@unicalamus.org All details received will be treated in confidence.
