The Calamus MA in
Consciousness Studies is open to all with a Bachelor’s degree and
interest in the field. In exceptional circumstances, well-qualified
persons without a Bachelor’s degree may be admitted.
The focus is on studies
of the subjective explorations of consciousness including altered
states of consciousness.
Students may negotiate
an individual syllabus drawing from the units available in the
Course Unit List plus any other studies or units agreed with the
course tutor.
If the student is not a
graduate in psychology, an Introductory Psychology course must be
included unless other studies in psychology have been taken.
Otherwise students may
draw from the following broad subject areas:

of consciousness after death and after-death communication

and/or pharmacological basis of altered states of consciousness

(Every one of the above
areas does not have to be included.)
Plus electives as
agreed.
45 credits (equivalent
to 15 x 3-credit courses) will normally be required to complete the
MA. The degree may be completed entirely by taught units or may
incorporate a project which will be worth 9 credits.
