CHANGE AGENT STUDIES is an interdisciplinary subject focusing on change at personal, social and organizational levels. Since coaching is a key discipline that promotes change, coaching-related studies will normally form the core of the course.
The first step is to decide what level and title of degree you are seeking. The level of degree depends largely on your previous qualifications and experience. The title of the degree depends on your professional needs and preferences.
The following change agent-related degrees are listed in our prospectus:
BA Change Agent Studies
BA Life Coaching
BA Personal Development
MA Change Agent Studies
MA Life Coaching
You may also enrol for the following if you are eligible:
Psy.D. with a concentration in change agent studies and related subjects
M.Phil or Ph.D. in Change Agent Studies by independent research and dissertation
D.B.A. with concentration in Change Agent Studies
The Calamus International University (non-UK) Bachelor’s degree is by distance learning only, and is an accelerated programme meant for people who already have some post-secondary education, training and experience equivalent in total to approx 50% of a degree course. This credit can be from any field and can include university credits, further education (e.g. vocational courses), skilled work experience, and other documentable skilled experience which may have accrued via pastimes, sports, military service, charity or voluntary work, etc. This way of building up a degree is similar to the American system in which students take general courses and specialise in their final year(s).
For taught degrees in Change Agent Studies, Course Units can be taken from the following subject areas:
Life and Personal Coaching
Business Coaching
Psychology
Counselling Psychology (including Counselling Skills and Psychotherapy)
Business Administration (especially Organizational Behaviour)
Organisational Spirituality
Hypnotherapy and NLP
Stress Management
Emotional Intelligence
Energy Therapies
Personal Development
Wellness Studies
Occupational Stress Management
Metaphor Studies
Metaphysics/Spirituality especially practical aspects such as New Thought, meditation, and other units that can help us to understand how to develop our spiritual potential and connection with the universe
Holistic Philosophy / Holistic Studies
Other electives can be taken from different subject areas subject to approval, and the student can also suggest areas of independent special study.
The exact programme of study will negotiated between the personal tutor and the student after enrolment, depending on amount and type of transfer credit, interests and professional needs. Credit transfer will be given as appropriate. The student may also select content-rich internet sites of his or her choice, subject to approval, on which course units may be based. If the student is in an ongoing practical training programme, completed modules of that programme may be submitted for additional credit. You will have the opportunity to devise your own personal project.
If the student does not have enough credit for an accelerated route, we can give specialized advice regarding a route to the Calamus International University non-UK Bachelor’s degree upon seeing your resume or CV. For further advice on eligibility and credit transfer, please let us have your CV or resume.
Likewise, it might be possible to enter the Master's degree directly, without a Bachelor's, or in highly exceptional circumstances, to enter a doctoral degree directly or with some preparatory courses.
Credit requirements
Bachelor - 120 credits including transfer credits.
Master - 45 credits including any transfer credits if the degree includes a thesis, or 48 credits without a thesis.
Doctorate (taught or research) - minimum 60 credits including any transfer credits if the degree includes a dissertation, or 70 credits without a dissertation. The Ph.D. must include a dissertation. A research doctorate will normally incorporate postgraduate transfer credits or credits from professional trainings. If insufficient transfer credit is available then some CIU taught course modules may need to be taken in addition to the research programme and dissertation.
One credit is nominally equivalent to one semester hour as in the typical American degree programme. The average course unit taken with CIU has a value of 3 credits or 3 semester hours.
